The International Business course is now a lower division course taken earlier in the sequence than in the past.  This change in course sequence will give students the international knowledge and foundation to incorporate into all of their other coursework.  The Division will also order the ETS subscale score by major to determine which majors are consistently lacking in international knowledge to determine if changes are necessary to the curriculum in that particular major.

No action necessary.  The division met its goal.  However, the division did discuss that fact that this one assignment is not enough to serve as a main measure and that something might need to be added in the future.  Although no action was necessary, the division recognized the need to find larger, more significant means of assessment to truly measure student learning.  The division scheduled an outcomes retreat for August 7-8, 2008 to rewrite the division outcomes plan to narrow the number of measurements and increase the emphasis on larger more significant assessments of the majors and the program.

The decision was made to add a one week in-class portion to the requirements of the practicum, this was implemented for the first time during Summer 2008.  For the first time this summer, prior to the trip, all students attended this one-week course.  A mandatory 50-page paper was assigned to each student.  This will give a more tangible assessment piece for the practicum, rather than just credit for participating in the trip experience.
