Intended Educational (Student) Outcome:

Outcome # 1 Students and parents will be aware of priority deadlines, general deadlines and appropriate student aid forms.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
___ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: Survey will be given to parents at the completion of each SOAR. Criteria for Success would indicate that 70% of the parents who complete the survey will indicated that Student Financial Services did a good or excellent job of informing them about the financial aid application process.
___ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results: More than 92% of the students and parents that completed the survey indicated that Student Financial Services did a good or excellent job of informing them about the financial aid application process.
___ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Will review notification methods and make improvements for the 2009/2010 financial aid year.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
___ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: Survey results from the Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory will be used each year to gather information from the traditional student body. The criteria for success would indicate a gap of less than 1.00 in the areas of financial aid on questions 5, 12, 75, and 76.
___ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results: Results show that the gap is less than 1.00 in the areas of financial aid for questions 5,12, and 76. Question 76 has a gap of 1.16 with regard to the importance of electronic completion of financial aid forms and the satisfaction level.
___ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Plan to work with IT in order to develop electronic forms that would be user friendly as well as possible capabilities for electronic signature for those forms for which it would be allowed according to federal regulations.
___ d. Follow up from previous academic year. (If action items were listed in the future tense in section C of last year’s report, use section D to indicate whether the action item was fully implemented this year).

Outcome # __2___ Students will understand the rights and responsibilities associated with student loan borrowing.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
___ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: Tally results from exam conducted to first time borrowers that completed the loan entrance counseling on-line. The criteria for success would be for 75% of the students that complete the exam will score 80% or above.
___ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results: Results were pulled down from OpenNet in previous years in order to tally results. However, they shut down this part of the operations in May 2008 and we have no access to our records. The new system we are required to use (Direct Loan after July 1, 2008) does not indicate score.
___ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: We will eliminate this outcome for the 2008/2009 academic year.

Outcome # __3___
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above: Students and parents will value the level of service they receive with regard to 1) filing process; 2) timeliness of awards; 3) acceptance/denial process and 4) tracking file completion.
___ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: Survey conducted once a year to students that are federal aid recipients. The criteria for success would be for 80% of the students to indicate they are satisfied with the level of service given by the Office of Student Financial Services.
___ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results: Survey was completed at SOAR by students and parents. More than 92% of the students and parents that completed the survey indicated that they were satisfied with the level of service given by the Office of Student Financial Services.
___ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Continue with staff training, communication techniques with parents/students, and processes in an effort to provide excellent service.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above: Track the application receipt date, the date the application was received and the award date. Tabulate the turn around time from receipt date to award date.
___ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: There will be less than a two week time frame between the ready to award date and the award date for 70% of the application received.
___ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results: We allowed for system set-ups to enable us to track the time frame of when a record was ready to award and the date the awards were processed. At least 70.5% of the applications received were award in less than 15 days.
___ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: We need to continue to streamline our processes from the time an application is received to the awarding stage in order to improve our communication to students of their awards in a timely manner.
