Expanded Statement of Institutional Purpose Linkage:

Institutional Mission Reference:  MidAmerica Nazarene University is a comprehensive liberal arts university offering undergraduate and selected professional and graduate degrees.  Sponsored by the North Central Region of the International Church of the Nazarene, the University is committed to serving the church and its global mission.  A Christian community in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, MidAmerica Nazarene University seeks to transform the individual through intellectual, spiritual, and personal development for a life of service to God, the church, the nation, and the world.  [ref:  Catalog, 2007-2008, page 4]

University Goal(s) Supported:  Three of the four primary goals of the University – development of the student, service to God and humanity, and career preparation – are supported in the Master of Arts in Organizational Administration program.  The MAOA program continues the development of the student beyond the baccalaureate level by delivering coursework designed to enhance the business and leadership skills of managers, executives, and professionals.  The goal of the program is to prepare graduates to successfully compete in a rapidly changing business environment, while maintaining strong ethical values and a commitment to excellence.  [ref:  MAOA Bulletin, various editions]  The second University goal, service to God and humanity, is supported throughout the MAOA curriculum.  The first course in the program, Corporate and Personal Ethics, is designed to reinforce the University’s commitment to ethical leadership and to lay the foundation for the ethical perspective found in each of the succeeding classes in the program.  The MAOA program is designed to meet the University goal of career preparation through its delivery of four separate emphasis areas curriculum.  After completing the core curriculum consisting of eight courses (24 semester hours), students advance into one of four emphasis areas (Leadership, Non-Profit Administration, Finance, or International Business) and complete the remaining four courses (12 semester hours) in the program.  Successful completion of the emphasis area of choice substantially increases the likelihood that the graduate will be well-prepared to excel in their career.
