___
MHR graduates will demonstrate core competencies in critical thinking skills which will include analytical thinking, collaborative planning and organizing, and problem solving.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
_MHR 1__ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The critical thinking skills of MHR students was measured by administering a Skill Development Survey to three MHR groups (MHR 156, 157, and 158) after the group has participated in The Desert Survival activity in Module One, Group and Organizational Behavior.
The target score was 70% of the students will score 70% or better in the area of critical thinking skills.
_MHR 1_ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
The Skill Development Survey asked students to rate their own skills using a Likert Style scale with 1 as strongly disagree, 2 as disagree, 3 as agree, and 4 as strongly agree. The combined score was 92.15% of the students scored 70% or better.
_MHR 1__ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
IAE will continue placing high emphasis on critical thinking skills.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:

_MHR 1__ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
The Salvaged Items list from students in MHR 159, 160, and 161 (Module One) was collected and it will be compared to the Salvaged Items list from students in MHR 150, 151, and 152 (Module Nine). The combined scores showed an improvement of 27.98% from the critical thinking in Module One to the critical thinking in Module Nine.

_MHR 1__ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
In-class critical thinking writing assignments were collected from MHR 157 and 159. Only 26.31% of the students scored 75% or better on this assignment. 10 out of 38 students scored 75% or better. The goal was not met.
_MHR 1__ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
This was the first year we used this assignment in Module Two. Module Two curriculum was rewritten for 2006-2007. This in-class writing assignment was incorporated in the curriculum with the intent of measuring critical thinking. The MHR faculty determined that the Rubric we used to grade this assignment was not the best measuring tool. We have changed the rubric, improved instruction on the critical thinking process, and decided to use this as assignment in Module Two as a pre-test measure. A post-test critical thinking in-class writing exercise has been incorporated in Module Eight.

Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
__MHR 2_ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The oral presentation skills of MHR 147 and 150 were measured by recording the scores from the Philosophy of Life presentation grading sheets (assignment presented at week 43). ___
MHR graduates will demonstrate competence in management through contemporary leadership skills, supervisory skills, and coaching skills.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
_MHR 3_ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The Management and Leadership skills of MHR 147, 148, and 149 were measured by administering a Skill Development Survey at week 48 of the MHR program. Week 48 is the last night of Module Nine, Management and Leadership. This module is considered the “capstone” course for the degree in Management and Human Relations that pulls together a great deal of knowledge gained throughout the program. The students are encouraged to evaluate the topics of management and leadership as these topics relate to the entire MHR program and not just this final course.
As a part of IAE’s Outcomes Assessment efforts in Management and Leadership, three groups were chosen to evaluate their skill development through a survey administered at the end of their accelerated degree completion program.
The criterion for success was that 80% of the students would score 80% or better.
_MHR 3__ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
The survey was administered to MHR 147, 148, and 149. The combined results were that 96% of the students scored 80% or better. 48 out of 50 students scored 80% or better.
_MHR 3_ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:

The criterion for success is that 80% of the students will score 80% or better.
_MHR 3_ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
The combined scores for MHR 150, 151, and 152 was 96.6% of the students scored 80% or better. 57 out of 59 students scored 80% or better.

___
MHR graduates will demonstrate ethical responsibility through self awareness of a personal value structure.
First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
_MHR 4__ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The Ethical Responsibility perceptions of MHR 153, 154, and 155 were measured by administering a Pre and Post Survey. The same survey was administered at week seven (early in MHR) as was administered at week 43 (late in MHR—the last class night of Module Eight, Values: Personal and Social).
As a part of IAE’s Outcomes Assessment efforts in Ethical Responsibility, three groups, MHR 153, 154, and 155 were chosen to have their ethical responsibility perceptions (self-reporting) evaluated.
The criterion for success was that there will be a 10% increase the average responses from the pre-test to the post-test.
_MHR 4__ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
The average of the pre-test was 73.64% . The average of the post-test was 81.33%. This is a 10% increase.
_MHR 4__ c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program:
- Continue placing high emphasis on ethical responsibility, in all modules—not just in Module Eight.
- There is a disconnect between the module eight curriculum and the survey used in the presentation of Post-Modernism. Post-Modernism has been incorporated in the Module Eight curriculum.
- Because this is a self-reporting survey, many students “think” they have an understanding of their values and philosophies at the pre-test level. Once they have proceeded through our program, they realize they did not know as much as they stated in the early survey. We have added a pre-test comment to the survey to encourage more critical and honest responses.
Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above:
_MHR 4__ a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success:
The content score on the Philosophy of Life papers will be considered as a measurement for ethical responsibility. The content of the Philosophy of Life paper includes articulation of the meaning of life/worldview; basic assumptions regarding human nature, what happens upon death; what is of real value or importance to the individual students; definition of truth, beauty, and justice; how does philosophy of life reflect values or life goals: professional and personal; and how their philosophy of life is integrated with the MNU Experience. Three groups were measured, MHR 150, 151, and 153.
The criterion for success is that 75% of the students will score 75% or better on the content portion of their philosophy of life paper.
_MHR 4__ b. Description of Data Collection & Assessment Results:
Combined 98.2% of the students scored 75% or better. 55 out of 56 students scored 75% or better.
