Assessment Records Books
The Assessment Records Book is based upon the model of student learning assessment developed by Dr. James Nichols and Dr. Karen Nichols at the University of Mississippi. This book serves as both a planning document and an annual reporting tool. It requires each office on campus to demonstrate a clear connection between the University’s mission, institutional goals and student learning outcomes. It provides a description of the outcomes for every program and demonstrates the means of assessing each outcome and the criteria for success. Finally, it provides a place for each office on campus to summarize assessment data collected and to document how this data was used to make program improvements.
The Assessment Records Book is part of the overall assessment plan of the University and contains:
1. A detailed list of majors and degrees being assessed, 2. Student learning outcomes for each major and degree, 3. Means of assessment (measures) used to determine whether each program is meeting its student learning outcomes, 4. Criteria for success for each measure, 5. Data for each measure, and 6. Documentation of program and system improvements that have been implemented as the direct result of assessment.
The primary focus of the assessment effort is the creation of processes, utilizing multiple sources of information and measures, to assess the intellectual component of the mission at MidAmerica Nazarene University
